Changing Hearts US – December 18, 2016

Lord, this week help us clean our hearts as we get ready for you.

Prayer 7

Pray this week for Florida and Georgia.  It is important that these citizens see God moving in their lives, then they can do something as simple as put Christ back into Christmas in their state.

Our fasting suggestions are that you give up salt, and fried foods this week, or fast from judging others.  Before judging them, recall how Jesus loves us despite our faults.

Take Action 2

Say Merry Christmas!   to every clerk and shopper you meet this week.

closed227 Abortion Clinics in 32 States Were Cited for Over 1,400 Health Violations

Following an examination of confirmed reports of dangerous abortion clinic conditions over the last 8 years, Americans United for Life released a ground-breaking investigative report titled: Unsafe: How the Public Health Crisis in America’s Abortion Clinics Endangers Women. The analysis details horrific abortion clinic conditions, documenting that 227 abortion providers in 32 states were cited for more than 1,400 health and safety deficiencies between 2008 and 2016 and details hundreds of significant violations of state laws regulating abortion clinics.

adventPraise Point:  After a year of national turbulence Praise God for Advent – it gives us time to stop and grieve the brokenness, disappointment, and darkness of all the shooting deaths and storm victims during the past year.  Now, we can collapse into Advent like falling into the arms of an old friend. Now we can mourn, wait, and sing “Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel.”

charlie-brownGood Grief! Leave Charlie Brown Alone, Says Court

A Texas teacher hung a “Charlie Brown Christmas” poster on her classroom door. Some administrators, ordered Dedra Shannon to take the display down because the reference to Luke 2:11 might “offend” students.  “Religious discrimination toward Christians has become a holiday tradition of sorts among certain groups,” But Texas Values President Jonathan Saenz may have summed it up best when he told reporters, “Nothing says ‘Merry Christmas’ like a court victory for religious freedom in December!”

Prayer Point:  When you are shopping this month you should know that Macy’s Department Store as well as Target have store policies that allow cross-dressing men to use women’s bath rooms.  May you be alerted and pray that such policies will soon be corrected.

christians-jewsChristians and Jews celebrate together

I discovered that Advent is deeply Jewish at its root. Chanukah—which commemorates historical events that happened a little more than a century and a half before the birth of Jesus—captures the longing for a Messiah who would set things right for the Jewish people and through them, set things right for the whole world. This longing for a Redeemer is what Advent is all about—it directs our desires toward God’s promise of a savior. In fact, the word “Advent” means arrival or coming.  Wouldn’t it be great if we Christian and Jews did join together this season to spread the message of Jesus, the Jewish, Messiah?            317-486-6045              e-mail –
