Changing Hearts US
Week of February 25, 2018

Pray this week for New Hampshire & New Jersey.  May the citizens there, feel our support and thus have the courage to pronounce God’s truth about our 6 moral issues.

Our fasting suggestions are to eat only vegetables one day or fast from comfort.  Tightening your belt, a notch or two?  It might remind you of the people who go hungry every day

Make sacrifices during Lent to offer God our self-control and strengthen our will. Also, please continue to keep Kay Dodds and her family in your prayers.

What’s the point of fasting, anyway?

God commanded it, Jesus practiced it, Church Fathers have preached the importance of it – fasting is a powerful and fundamental part of the Christian life.  The very first fast was ordered by God to Adam in the Garden of Eden, when God instructed Adam and Eve not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:16-17).

This divine prohibition was not because the tree was bad. It was “made good” like all creation, but its fruit was meant to be eaten “in the right time and the right way.” In the same way, we abstain from created goods, so we may enjoy them “in the right time and the right way.”  Growing spiritually requires self-control.

Praise Point:  As the 2018 Winter Olympic Games continue in South Korea, people are remembering Korea’s first priest, Andrew Kim Taegon, born in 1821.  “St. Andrew Kim Taegon exhorted believers to draw from divine love the strength to remain united and to resist evil.” Even then prayers were going up for a united Korea.

Prayer Point: Avoid the TV show, ‘The Detour‘.  The show contributes to the depravity of our society.  Every scene is filled with extremely foul language, using the Lord’s name in vain, sexual innuendos, and graphic encounters.  If you wish to have this show removed from the air waves, urge their advertisers to leave. Sleep Number is one of their advertisers.  Subway is a sponsor too. You can call Subway at 1-800-888-4648 x85, or you can e-mail them at comments@subway.com. You might urge both sponsors to put “Detour” on their “do not advertise list”.

Praise Point:  Bermuda’s repeal of gay marriage stands. Let us pray that the U.S. will learn from Bermuda. The country abolished same-sex marriage saying marriage can only be between one man and one woman, but they are allowing a domestic partnership.

Movie “Tortured for Christ”

Fourteen years in a Communist prison could not break his faith.  This movie begins March 5th.  You can view the trailer here:  www.onbuzz.com/new-releases/tortured-for-christ.  Please support good Christian movies.
